Chatting with Gari

She doesn’t think of herself as very interesting, but we disagree! We are thrilled to have Gari Smith on the podcast today. Gari served at West Nairobi School in Kenya for five years before returning to the states, where she would become the Director of Recruitment and Placement for NICS, the Network of International Christian Schools. She also has a small business where she is able to express her creativity through physical and digital art.  She has unique wisdom in navigating different seasons of life, immersing herself in different cultures, and building relationships in a way that may be surprising to many Americans. Be motivated and inspired as you listen to Gari’s story!

Gari Smith

I am married to Brad and we have a 17-year-old daughter. I went to school in Southaven, Mississippi, and graduated from Ole Miss in 2007. I taught for 4 years at Southaven High School and then moved to serve at the NICS school in Nairobi, Kenya. I stayed there for 5 years and then returned to the states. I taught one more year at SHS and I’ve been serving at the NICS Home Office since 2017. I currently serve at the home office as the Director of Recruitment and Placement. I have a small business where I make different art pieces for homes and I also do some digital art for it as well. It’s very cathartic for me. I am the oldest of 6 kids, so I have tons of nephews and a niece that I love to hang out with. I also serve on the media team and on the women’s ministry leadership team at my church.
