We are so excited to hear from Esther Ireland on this week’s episode. Esther is an 8th grader here at NorthStar Academy. She is passionate about sailing and living a life full of adventures. Listen as Esther shares the joys and challenges of sailing and how every moment has taught her how to lean on the strength of God. Esther also shares about her journey at NorthStar and how important it is to get plugged in. Be encouraged to keep going in the midst of the hard times, no matter what may come.

Esther Ireland

I am 14 years old, and I live in Washington (state) with my family. I have a younger sister who 9 years old and a brother who is 11. I’m currently taking 5 courses at NSA, and I plan to graduate from here someday. I enjoy reading, running, eating, and playing board games with my family. I’m a big sailor and a huge waterskier. In the summer you can find me as far away from my computer as I can get which means I’ll be out finding all the different ways I can get myself stranded sailing while scaring my mom, or begging my dad to tow me behind the boat. In the fall, winter, and spring you could find me anywhere from the public school cross country team, to my messy desk, or actually anywhere in the world.

Irelanddddddd aaahh thank you sooo much for this!! It was so encouraging, and inspiring, and also, girl, I really hope you do sail around the world someday, and I believe you can! Go tackle those dreams, they’re beautiful and like Mrs. Shafer said, God’s given you those dreams. <3 (Also I was only minorlyyy having a heart attack when Mrs. Shafer kept saying "Esther's gonna" or "Esther did…" XD) But overall seriously I don't know anyone who'd have the presence of mind to be even relatively calm while on an overturned sailboat in the middle of water and not able to get home until help arrived…I know I woulda been freaking out, you're so brave!! I'm sooo happy to know you and to just see the blessing you are to this school. To everybody who doesn't know Esther Ireland, I DEFINITELY recommend just talking to her sometime, shooting her a dm, anything…she's SUPER nice and really friendly. 😉 Anyway, this is getting long, but SO nice to hear your beautiful voice, Esther, never forget you're awesome and your dreams are worthwhile! <3 And, lasttt thing, I love quotes so here's one for you! 🙂

“20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

I love this episode so much!! Amazing job, Esther! I honestly think it’s so cool how you can manage a sailboat all on your own! And thanks for sharing, this was really fun and encouraging!
