NorthStar Academy: A Principal’s Perspective

NorthStar Academy is an accredited online private Christian school. NSA currently serves students in over 90 countries and partners with many different schools all over the world. Pam Horneck, NorthStar Academy’s principal, has always had a passion for education. She loves spending one-on-one time with students and working with small Christian schools. Listen as Pam shares her heart for Christian education, ways teachers make connections with students, and the many different ways NSA can serve families.

1:43 – “I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to be a teacher.”

11:24- Working for a small Christian school, we couldn’t offer our students all the courses that we wanted to.

13:12 – I can look back on my life and see all these steps. Right after I put my resignation in the founder of NSA reached out to me and offered me a job and she’s been here ever since.

15:00 – I gained even more connection with my students when coming to NorthStar Academy and teaching.

18:10 – Teachers don’t leave NSA very often. When we hire, it’s usually because we are growing. Our teachers are amazing.

23:38 – You can still homeschool. You can have your children at home, but we can help you. They can take Trigonometry with us if you don’t want to teach that subject.

30:15 – There are parts of our courses that are individualized. There are so many ways to complete an assignment at NSA.

31:00 – Our flexibility allows students to have extra time to complete assignments. You can work at your own pace.

Pam has always had a passion for Christian education. She has been in Christian education for over 30 years as a teacher and principal; 13 of those years have been at NorthStar. She was a NorthStar teacher for 7 years, principal for 6 years and is transitioning to Education Direction of School Programs. She lives in Arkansas with her husband; they have three grown sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 8 grandchildren.
