  • Choosing a major
  • Choosing a college
  • Writing an essay
  • Preparing the actual application
  • Deadlines
  • Scholarships

8:14 – “The biggest question I get is on scholarships. How to get scholarships and how to look for them.”
There are many types of scholarships:

  • State based
  • Financial aid from the government
  • International
  • College scholarships from the school you want to attend
  • Private scholarships

9:58 – Where am I going to go to college? We help you narrow your choice down to 5-8 colleges.

10:30 – November is the early decision time deadline when a lot of scholarship forms are due.

11:35 – 9th grade – & 10th grade you need to work with our guidance office to help you plan what courses you want to take based on what colleges you want to go to.

12:58 – The Junior/Senior checklist encourages students to have their 5-8 colleges by the end of their Junior year.

13:30 – What happens if a student doesn’t stay on track? A lot of scholarships require volunteer hours. If you don’t know this, you can’t plan ahead and get them done. Also, following the checklist, allows you to see when your student needs to take the ACT or SAT since they have to have a certain score for some scholarships.

16:10 – Things to consider when choosing a college:

  1. Climate seems to be a big deal for International students
  2. Location – state side students
  3. Size of the school

17:55 – What’s the difference in AP courses & dual credit
AP courses – college level courses where you can get credit from the college board if you take the AP test and get a certain score

18:32 -NSA has a partnership with Colorado Christian University. They have approved some of our AP courses. Students take our course and fill out forms for CCU and they can get college credit for those courses.

21:20 – Call us and we can give you information about NSA. Our ph# is 662-892-4380

23:00 – If your school doesn’t offer an AP course and you want to take one with us, you can do that. NSA is super flexible. You can take any course at any time.

24:56 – Most students are going to visit 2-3 colleges. “I usually suggest that you plan at least 2 visits between Junior & Senior year.”
*International Students – can go on virtual tours if they can’t get to the US to visit
