We have all faced changes and challenges throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, but one of the most devastating effects has been to the Senior class of 2020. Most of them left school the Friday before Spring Break with no idea that they were walking out for the last time. There is very little hope for a prom, awards day, and in some cases, even graduation. No last memories to wrap up their final year of high school. Listen as Halle Shafer, a 2020 Senior, has a raw conversation about what it feels like to be in her shoes. Hear how she has refocused her attention on God when all circumstances seem overwhelming and out of her control.
Show Notes:
41 – “I never left the school for Spring Break thinking that I wouldn’t be back.”
19 – One of the big reasons I went back to school was for prom and all of the Senior events. It’s hard knowing that prom possibly won’t happen.
07 – “I know that God’s hand is in all of this and that this isn’t just happening for no reason.”
24 – Use this time as a learning experience rather than just being upset and sad about it all the time. Although, I think it’s okay to get emotional over this.
04 – This is a real issue for so many people.
25 – It’s a huge deal and you need to take time to grieve over it. It’s okay to be sad. It’s okay to take it to God and talk it out.
56 – “How has God been moving in your heart?”
21 – He knows why this is going on and when this will end. He knows all of it.
09 – Remember that God is all knowing and that he will take care of us how we need to be taken care of
50 – This is a huge reminder that God is in control and I’m not.
07 – Transitioning to online school
11 – “Thank goodness for FaceTime and Zoom. It’s been a huge help.”
17 – “Even though it’s hard not being able to go see my friends when I want to, I think that once this is all over we are all going to come out with a different perspective. I pray that this will be an experience that will humble all of us.”
34 – “It’s been really good to relax. I don’t think any of us get that enough.”
21 –“What is your greatest fear?”
31 – It’s really important to remember that we aren’t alone in this. Seniors all over the world are going through this same thing.
41 – Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” ESV
27 – “We are all in this together. We are going to make it out.”
